Once you have decided what pattern (sometimes the hardest decision:) your 4 thread overlocker is your hero! Side seams use 4 thread make sure you have jersey/ballpoint needles at all times. Check your tension on a scrap first. If your fabric is waving you will need to adjust your differential feed (check your manual) usually the higher number will gather the fabric in, adjust gradually.

When cutting your bands for necks and arms work on about 10% smaller than the opening, please do a test run on a scrap first if you are unsure, as each stretch fabric can be different. Use a cutting mat ruler and rotary cutter for best results for your bands!

Sewing single thickness jersey a great technique is to use your 4 thread and reduce the needle tension ONLY to 0 this stops your thread from wanting to snap! Try a sample first with normal tension then on the other side try this technique, this can vary from each machine. Then I always use a twin needle on my sewing machine (as I don't have a coverlock) to finish especially if a fitted garment so to give plenty of stretch. If it is a loose flowing then you could just do a straight stitch, check your tension first!
